Dyslexia Tuition - Is it right for my child?
Firstly and most importantly, your child is unique, as is the way that they learn. Specialist dyslexia tuition will provide the right targeted support for your child in addition to support and guidance for you.
Dyslexia is complex and affects each child differently so a flexible approach to tuition is needed. While younger children may benefit from a multisensory, cumulative approach, older children may need help with study skills and essay planning. Although I will have an overall plan in mind, my experience as a specialist teacher allows me to adapt my lessons to address any difficulties as they come to light.
I strongly believe that children learn more when they are having
fun. For example, it is not unusual to find me outside with my students
making use of
their football skills to help them with spelling or making up silly
words to their favourite songs to aid memory!
Ultimately I aim to
create a relaxed, positive atmosphere which builds confidence, utilises your child’s strengths and enables them to progress.

Where possible I believe in working in partnership with your child's school. This can be as simple as updating your child's teacher with the areas we have been working on every half term. I will often share resources and strategies that are working well with your child's school. This of course would only be with your consent.
I am able to offer tuition even if your child has not had a formal dyslexia assessment and subsequent diagnosis. However, an assessment with me may be an option you wish to explore.
Online tuition is also available enabling me to support children regardless of geography.
